The Empower Grant
The Fund for Women created this grant to significantly impact the lives of girls and women who have encountered substantial obstacles or barriers to achieving self-sufficiency. The FFW Empower Grant awards $150,000 to an area non-profit over the course of a three-year partnership to support programming specifically designed to help girls and women grow, develop and advance.
The first non-profit recipient of the FFW Empower Grant was Arbor Development. The grant they received, initially, in 2018, was extended until the end of 2024.
The current nonprofit recipient of the Empower Grant is the Twin Tiers Baby Bank. The organization was selected through a rigorous application process at the end of 2024.
“Fund for Women’s mission is to empower girls and women to achieve economic self-sufficiency and realize life goals. The Twin Tiers Baby Bank truly addresses foundational needs for some of the most vulnerable of those we serve,” said Amy Truxon, President of the Fund for Women of the Southern Tier. “Diaper insecurity has a devastating impact on families, especially the single-income female-headed households in our area. This grant will allow Twin Tiers Baby Bank to not only continue to grow but also take a leap forward in the support they can provide.”
The partnership with the Twin Tiers Baby Bank will continue until the end of 2027.
